As a director that has tackled more than a few historically-based movies on his resume, it should come to no big surprise that, for his next movie, that he would wish to tackle one of the biggest news events of the past few years.
According to The Playlist, director Oliver Stone is making a movie based on the book The Snowden Files by Luke Harding. Production on the film is expected to begin before the end of the year. The primary reason why production is trying to start then is that it is apparently battling another Snowden-based movie based on the book No Place to Hide by Glenn Greenwald.
When speaking to The Playlist,/>The Guardian, he had the following to say about the upcoming production, "This is one of the greatest stories of our time. A real challenge. I'm glad to have the Guardian working with us."
In relation to that final sentence, Stone is referring to the fact that the British paper will be working with the filmmaker to help him work on the story.
