Police have arrested a 52-year-old Wisconsin man in connection with two suitcases found by the side of a road that were found to contain human remains. One of the bodies has been discovered to be a Minnesota woman who went missing.
As previously reported, in early June, a highway department crew discovered two suitcases on the side of a road while they were cutting grass.
When police were summoned by residents to examine the suitcases, the remains of two bodies were found inside. It was believed that no crime was committed in the area, rather the bodies were simply dumped.
Both bodies belonged to female victims, with one identified as 37-year-old Laura Simonson, according to The Associated Press. The Farmington, Minnesota woman was reported missing by her mother in November.
Police are still trying to identify the second body, which they say appears to be a woman between the ages of 15 and 35. The body features a heart-shaped tattoo on the lower left side of the abdomen.
The Los Angeles Times reports that police picked up Steven Zelich in connection with the case and are currently questioning him.
