A pre-party for the Black Entertainment Television Awards in Los Angeles was interrupted by a shooting that left one person dead and four others wounded.

Several rounds were fired by a gunman at the Monalizza, a restaurant and banquet hall, where the party was taking place.

According to Reuters, one person was rushed to the hospital where they died, and two others were in stable condition at area hospitals.

The gunman fired several rounds at 5:17 a.m., and was said to have been the only one shooting.

A restaurant manager said the shooting had occurred on the patio and not inside the restaurant, reported the Los Angeles Times.

Parties associated with the awards ceremony were taking place all weekend long, and more will follow after the awards later this evening.

“There were a couple of parties last night and probably there will be more after the awards tonight,” Drake Madison of the Los Angeles police said.

The gunman is still at large.
