The first full trailer for Paddington, producer David Heyman’s CG/live action hybrid adaptation of the beloved children’s books, has hit the web. In it, the Peruvian bear has some trouble figuring out what toothbrushes are for.
In the two-minute, 30-second trailer, we see Hugh Bonneville struggle to get an insurance policy to protect his home from possible destruction by a bear. Meanwhile, the computer-generated Paddington is struggling in the bathroom. When the Downton Abbey actor opens the bathroom, Paddington comes out in the bathtub. So, that’s why he needs the insurance policy.
This is the first footage from the film since March’s teaser, which only showed a glimpse of Paddington arriving in London. Since then, the CG bear has become a popular meme, “#CreepyPaddington,” which probably isn’t the kind of publicity TWC-Dimension wants for the family film.
Paddington was originally scheduled for early December, but has since been moved to Christmas Day. Bonneville, Nicole Kidman, Sally Hawkins, Jim Broadbent and Julie Waters are in the cast, while Colin Firth voices the bear.
