Police in Phoenix have announced they made an arrest in the case of two Catholic priests who were shot at church.
CNN reported that Sergeant Steve Martos confirmed the arrest, but no other details have been proved. A press conference will be held Monday afternoon.
The victims, Reverend Kenneth Walker and Reverend Joseph Terra, were both attacked at Mater Misericordiae Mission Catholic Church. Terra had made a 911 call around 9 pm to report a robbery. Wallker died from gun shot wounds while en route to the hospital.
According to the Associated Press, Terra was beaten very badly and gave Walker his last rites after the attacker left. The next day, Terra gave police a description of the attacker as being a white male who was in his 40’s.
One of the priest’s vehicles had been stolen and was later found.
ABC 15 in Phoenix has reported a source as saying the suspect who was arrested is a 54-year-old named Gary Moran, although details are still pending.
