The long-awaited collaboration between South Korean pop star Psy and rapper Snoop Dogg is finally here. In a matter of hours, the video has already gotten over 5 million views and features Psy trying to get over a hangover as Snoop raps about the effects of alcohol.
In an interview with MTV News, Psy said he was looking to do something different after the monster hits “Gangnam Style” and “Gentleman.” He said that the “hangover, hangover, hangover” hook came first, then he contacted Snoop.
“After that hook part was done, right away I thought about Snoop Dogg,” Psy said. “He’s hanging over every day, so, wow, I should call him!”
Snoop did fly to South Korea to make the video with him, but they only had 18 hours. according to Psy, “Snoop’s calculation was 8 hours of shooting and 10 hours of partying. That’s what he thought, and honestly, that’s how I convinced him to bring him to Korea.”
Back in December, Psy first teased working with Snoop, who released his last album under the name Snoop Lion. Last month, his star-making video for “Gangnam Style” reached 2 billion views, a plateau no other video on YouTube is even close to.
