Rosario Dawson is the latest addition, and first female castmember, in Netflix and Marvel's adaption of Daredevil.

Dawson will star opposite Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio as a young woman who finds her life changed when she runs into Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, one day, according to Marvel.com.

"Rosario Dawson is one of the most charismatic, talented and powerful actresses in Hollywood, so she was always at the top of our list for 'Marvel's Daredevil,'" head of television Jeph Loeb said. "Her role in the series is absolutely critical to Matt Murdock's journey to become the hero we know as Daredevil."

Cox was cast to play blind attorney Murdock/Daredevil and D'Onofrio is set to play Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, who finds himself up against Murdock as he tries to expand his business empire in Hell's Kitchen.

The 13-episode series, produced by Marvel Television, is set to premiere sometime in 2015 on Netflix. Steven S. DeKnight serves as the showrunner and executive producer, alongside Drew Goddard, who originally was on board to run the series.

Dawson can be seen in the upcoming Sin City: A Dame To Kill For, set to hit theaters on Aug. 22, 2014.
