Sara Evans is no stranger to the country music game and this week she is returning home to perform at the CMA Music Festival. Evans expressed that it is always important to play the festival because the fans that attend are right in the heart of Music City.
"I love CMA Fest week because we travel to get the music to the fans, and this is a week that we can basically stay at home. We get to see everybody from all over the world – and that's so many people. It's the biggest audience we will play for all year," said Evans.
At a press conference before the festival Evans was asked about what it was like to be one of the few female country musicians to be on the current radio charts, Billboard reported. Her response took the audience by surprise.
It's definitely an issue, and the center of my career, competing with so many men being played and so few women. With ‘Slow Me Down,' when I entered the Top-40, there were two women there," said Evans. "Even as I entered the Top-20, there was still two – me and Miranda. It's definitely frustrating, but at the same time I feel very lucky to be one of the women that's still being played."
The "Little Bit Stronger" singer added to her statement by wearing a baseball hat that said "Bra Country," USA Today reported.
Evans is currently on the charts with "Slow Me Down" which reached No. 17 on the country airplay chart.
