From Sony’s E3 2014 press conference comes a new trailer for Ratchet and Clank, based on the popular game series of the same name developed by Insomniac games.

According to the film’s official Facebook page, Ratchet and Clank tells the story of Ratchet, an orphaned, foolhardy alien who spends most of his time working with spaceships. Together with a colorful robot named Clank, they must face off with Chairman Drek—who plans to destroy the entire Solana Galaxy.

The light-hearted 3D platformer the film is based on was a cult classic on the Playstation 2, and an early hit for developer Insomniac games. Insomniac is closely involved in the production, so fans of the series will likely find the same tone and humor they have come to expect from the games.

Along with Ratchet and Clank, Sony has also moved ahead with an animated feature based on another Playstion classic Sly Cooper. In the live action realm, Screen Gems will be bringing The Last of Us—one of the most revered games on the Playstation 3—to the silver screen. Sam Raimi’s production company Ghost House is involved in the project as well.

Ratchet and Clank will release sometime next year. The voice cast from the games will reprise their respective roles.
