A Spanish matador was gored by a bull in Granada after he turned his back on the animal last Thursday.

According to the New York Daily News, veteran toreador, José Tomás, just finished passes with a 1,100-pound bull when he turned around and started to walk away.

The Local reported that his beastly opponent did not agree that the fight was over and the 37-year-old was gored by the animal and tossed into the air several times.

When Tomás landed on the ground his assistants quickly rushed into the ring and distracted the bull in order to swiftly escort the matador to safety.

He was transported to a hospital and sustained cuts and one broken rib.

Although it was thought that the controversial bull fighter would not be back in the ring for at least a few weeks, local media outlets said that he was back at it on Sunday in León.

Surely Tomás learned from his mistake though and did not underestimate the next bull he faced.
