“The Big Fat Surprise” is a new novel that has revealed the truth about saturated fats.

Yes, those pesky saturated fats that everyone has been avoiding for years aren’t as bad as you think! According to Tech Times, Nina Teicholz is the author of the book of surprises.

Teicholz started out as a food critic in 2000. Though the job did not pay much, it provided free meals regularly. Many of the foods she was eating contained large amounts of fats.

After being in the position for quite some time, Teicholz managed to gain no weight. In fact, she actually lost ten pounds. Her cholesterol levels also remained normal.

"For decades, we have been told that the best possible diet involves cutting back on fat, especially saturated fat... But what if the low-fat diet is itself the problem? What if the very foods we've been denying ourselves - the creamy cheeses, the sizzling steaks - are themselves the key to reversing the epidemics of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease?" the book reads.

Many people, according to Science Recorder are skeptical of Teicholz’s findings in the book.

Analysis conducted in March supported the same ideas as the books. The findings of this analysis were published in the journal Annals of Internal Medicine.

"People do not need to feel guilty about or restrict themselves when it comes to eating cheese, whole fat dairy and red meat. The science supports a higher-fat diet," said Teicholz.

The American Heart Association says that consuming foods that are high in saturated fats will increase cholesterol in your blood. High cholesterol levels will raise the risk of heart disease.
