The musical The King and I is coming back to Broadway, providing fans yet another opportunity to watch romance unfold through the beloved story of an English schoolmistress and the king of Siam.

The King and I is based on the novel Anna and the King of Siam by Margaret Landon. First performed on Broadway in 1951, the play was created through the collaboration of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II as reported by Variety. The play has been revitalized a few times on Broadway, with its last revival occurring in 1996.

This new production of The King and I will contain two notable stars: performer Kelli O’Hara and actor Ken Watanabe. Kelli O’Hara is a well known Broadway star who has been nominated for five Tonys. While Watanabe has never performed on stage in the United States according to the Associated Press, he is well known for his roles on film, and has starred in films such as Inception and Letters from Iwo Jima .
The show begins its run March 12th at Vivian Beaumont Theater.
