Norma Brewer escaped death when a courthouse toilet in Montana exploded moments after she used it.
Brewer, who is the Stillwater County deputy treasurer, did not expect her bathroom break to be so catastrophic.
“I had just closed the door behind me when it went off,” Brewer said.
According to the Daily Mail, Brewer said the toilet used was a brand which the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall for in 2012.
The press release for the recall warned that the toilets could explode, reported the Casper Star-Tribune.
"The system can burst at or near the vessel weld seam releasing stored pressure. This pressure can lift the tank lid and shatter the tank, posing impact or laceration hazards to consumers and property damage,” the release read.
An estimated 2,330,600 toilet were recalled in the U.S with more than 10,000 in Canada.
Other toilets in the courthouse are of the same brand, and are at risk for exploding.
Brewer said that five toilets will be replaced in the courthouse as a result of the explosion.
