Toyota has announced that they will be introducing a hydrogen fuel-cell cars to the consumer market.
The production of the new vehicles should begin in December. It’s likely that the new cars will be available in 2015, according to The Japan Times. They are hoping to do their manufacturing at the Motomachi plant in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture.
Hydrogen fuel-cell cars are one the latest innovations in the automobile market, but it’s not clear whether the cars will be a hit with the public. The cars technically operate by electricity. The electricity comes from a reaction of hydrogen and oxygen.
Would more hydrogen charging stations be available for consumers? According to Forbes, Entrepreneur Mark Rogowsky wrote that the lack of fueling stations could prevent car buyers from purchasing hydrogen fuel-cell cars.
Rogowsky compares potential sales of the new vehicle to sales of a vehicle like the Tesla Model S. Toyota might face competition from Honda, Mercedes-Benz, and General Motors, companies that are developing similar vehicles, according to Newsmax. The cars will be available for commercial use.
