As estranged relatives try to reconcile in this week’s new releases, audiences can reconnect with their favorite characters. Two sequels head into theaters, bringing back a boy and his dragon and a young cop duo.
Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum head back to school in 22 Jump Street. In the sequel to the 2012 hit film, officers Schmidt and Jenko go undercover at a college campus to find a drug dealer. Their partnership is tested as they fall into different cliques and spend time away from each other. The action comedy runs for one hour and forty-nine minutes. It’s rated R for language, sex, drugs, nudity and violence.

The fate of dragons and humans rest in the hands of Hiccup and Toothless in How to Train Your Dragon 2. As the two explore new regions, they uncover an ice cave filled with wild dragons, protected by Dragon Rider, and find themselves immersed in a battle to keep peace. The PG film plays for one hour and forty-five minutes. It features the voices of Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Kit Harington, Cate Blanchett, Djimon Honsou, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller and Kristen Wiig. The animated adventure is available in 2D, 3D and IMAX 3D.

A woman tries to bond with her estranged father in I Am I. After meeting him for the first time at her mother’s funeral, she finds out that he suffers from memory loss and doesn’t even remember he has a daughter, often mistaking her for her mother. In order to connect with him, she pretends to be her mother and even dresses the part. The unrated drama is playing in limited theaters for one hour and twenty-seven minutes.

A teen convinces the rest of her cheerleading squad to seek revenge on the captain of the football team in All Cheerleaders Die. Their mission takes an unexpected turn when the cheerleaders are killed and brought back to life by a witch. Now, to quench their hunger, they’re killing anyone in their path. The unrated comedic horror film runs is running in limited theaters for one hour and twenty-nine minutes.

After battling cancer for nearly a decade, Robert decided that he doesn’t want to fight anymore and wants to be injected by an overdose of painkillers. Tension among the family breaks out as they argue over whether or not to let him have his wish. The limited released family drama runs for one hour and fifty-seven minutes. It’s rated R for language and drugs.

A family tries to clean up their mother’s house in Life’s a Breeze. What they don’t realize is that their mother stashed her fortune in her old things. With almost a million dollars somewhere in the trash, the family goes on a mission to retrieve it. The comedic drama is playing in limited theaters for one hour and twenty-eight minutes.

The stories behind French writer Violette Leduc are told in the limited released biopic, Violette. Leduc was a trailblazer for women’s rights and is known for her relationship with Simone de Beauvoir. The unrated French drama is subtitled in English. It’s playing in limited theaters for two hours and eighteen minutes.

A cross country road trip turns into a nightmare in The Signal. Three friends travelling the Southwest are lured into a creepy, isolated area by a computer genius. Something strange happens to them and one young man wakes up to find his friends missing. Now he must find his friends and answers as to what actually happened to them that day. The one hour and thirty-seven minute thriller is rated PG-13. It’s available in limited theaters.

Eighty people are plucked out of their daily routines to race for survival in The Human Race. In order to stay alive, participants must race and follow the rules, stay on the path and don’t get lapped twice. The unrated horror film runs for one hour and twenty-seven minutes. It’s available in limited theaters.

The cost of a college education in the United States is the focus of Ivory Tower. The unrated documentary questions whether a high priced education is necessary and showcases a few institutes that create quality learning. The limited released film runs for one hour and thirty minutes.
