Authorities said that two people were killed and 21 others were injured when a logging truck in Arkansas lost control and dumped its cargo onto a construction site crew.

According to Reuters, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office said that the truck’s brakes may have failed causing it to overturn and the logs to spill onto the workers.

ArkansasMatters.com reported that Sheriff Scott Bradley said that 40 men were on the site and many suffered serious injuries and were transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the logging truck, Jerry Hickman, was also hospitalized and suffered minor injuries.

The names of the construction crew members injured have not been released.
The crew was working on the US 65 highway for a Transportation Department project to widen a bridge from three to five lanes. The fatal crash occurred in Clinton, which is about 70 miles away from Little Rock.

Charges against Hickman have not yet been announced and the accident is still under investigation.
