Under the Electric Sky, a new release from Focus Features, is a guaranteed favorite for concert goers.
Under the Electric Sky follows music fans attending the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. Shot in 3D, it proves to be an outstanding concert film.
Directors Dan Cutforth and Jane Lipsitz follow groups of people from California, Texas, and New York for an exhilarating three days in Las Vegas. Previous credits from the filmmakers include Katy Perry: Part of Me and Justin Bieber: Never Say Never.
It is the event of the year for many, as the concert featuring dazzling lights and smooth beats. Classically and typically a rave movie, the concert brings some 345,000 people together.
Music from world renowned djs keeps them dancing all the way through. Armin Van Buuren, Afrojack, Avicii, Above & Beyond, and Tiesto, and Fatboy Slim are featured in the film. “Eat Sleep Rave Repeat” is their anthem that makes sense for the times.
Fans of the concert were glad to share what brought them there, and what keeps them returning to EDC year after year.
The 3-D elements make the film a great watch. 3-D glasses were essential for viewing the film. Images in the film really pop off the page, particularly laser lights and confetti. If we are to walk away with a message, it’s that universal love and humanity can be shared at EDC.
Under the Electric Sky world-premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival. It was produced by Haven Entertainment’s Rachel Miller and Kevin Mann.
The film is being released this Friday, June 27th on the West Coast in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Long Beach. Music lovers in New York and other areas can catch the film a little later in the Summer. It will play at AMC Empire 25 in NYC on July 25, when it will also be released in Chicago, Dallas, and Miami.
