Violence erupted for the second time in as many days near Pakistan’s busiest airport forcing a temporary shutdown.

According to the Associated Press, gunmen attacked a training facility for airport police near Jinnah International Airport causing a shootout with security.

An airport security spokesman said that when the attackers tried to enter the training facility, his men retaliated.

"The aim of the attackers was to create a panic, and we shouldn't be playing into their hands," the head of the airport security, Azam Khan said.

CNN noted that on Sunday another attack by militants at the same airport's cargo area led to an hours-long siege that left 26 people and the gunmen dead.

No one was hurt on Tuesday and the airport reopened after officials said the situation was under control.

The Pakistani Taliban has claimed responsibility for both of the attacks.

Jinnah International, located in Karachi, the capital of the Sindh province, is Pakistan's largest international and domestic airport.
