Walmart has decided to permanently cut prices on the iPhone 5s and 5c, which many believe is an attempt to clear space for the new iPhones that are expected to debut in a few months.

According to PC Mag, the iPhone 5c is now being offered for $29, which is $20 less than its original price at the store. The iPhone 5s has also been lowered to $99, which offers $50 in savings compared to its original price. Both phones however, require a two-year contract from a cellular carrier such as Verizon Wireless, AT&T, or Sprint.

A spokesperson from Walmart claims that the discounted prices are just a way for the company to provide the technology its customers desire at a reasonable price. She also stated that the price cut is only offered at Walmart in stores, according to ABC News.

It is unknown whether or not Walmart will also decrease the prices of other iPhone 5 phones that contain more memory such as the 64GB model and the 32 GB model. The next set of iPhones is expected to hit shelves this fall.
