I do not care for country or bluegrass music. In fact, I quickly scroll past CMT. Somehow, Wesley Woo grasped me with his vocals. Surprisingly, he wasn’t born with those pipes. He invested time energy into his craft to become a triple threat. He can sing, write music, and play instruments. His dedication proves that hard work can pay off. Friday, April 4, 2014, Wesley Woo released his first album Do Re Mi. He didn’t do it alone. Rei Otsuka (Bass and Slide Guitar), Miguel Becerra (Cajon and Percussion), MJ Lee. (Keys and Harmonies), and Tommy P. (Lead Guitar) bring life to Wesley Woo’s album. This 9 track album is full of love, innocence, and simplicity.
“Stay” Is a sweet love song. Before you say anything about the video, the concept is cute. He literally acts out the lyrics in the video. The concrete wall reminds me of Adele’s “Chasing Pavement”. In that video, the couple lays on the sidewalk interacting with each other. It is one of my favorite song and music video by Adele.
Overall, Do Re Mi is a “feel good” album. The songs are optimistic and relatable. You can’t stay made or agitated listening to Wesley Woo’s band. For 9 tracks, the price is reasonable and affordable. You can get your album from Amazon or iTunes. Do not forget to add some songs to your Summer of Love playlist. By the way, you can connect with Wesley Woo on Facebook, Twitter, Instagramand YouTube.
