A woman in New Zealand went into surgery to have her ovaries removed. Instead, she found out she was pregnant.
Rebecca Oldham, was experiencing pain and cramps, and decided to have her ovaries removed, The New Zealand Herald reported.
Oldham had six pregnancy tests and blood other tests done to explain the abdominal pain.
Surgeons discovered Oldham was 32 weeks pregnant after she had been put under anesthesia.
Oldham, who already has a daughter, was under the impression that she could not have any more children.
"I was facing not being able to have any more children because they thought there were problems with my ovaries and all of a sudden we had a son," Oldham said.
The surgery was stopped; Oldham was awoken from anesthesia, and told she would have a c-section.
According to the Metro, the stomach cramps Oldham blamed on her ovaries, it now though to have been caused by the baby.
“They think the pain was caused by him trying to move around but he couldn’t,” Oldham said.
Oldham named her surprise bundle James.
