Yahoo’s Chief Development Officer Jacqueline Reses released a report revealing the diversity statistics of Yahoo employees.

As compared to Google, which also recently released its diversity statistics, Yahoo had a slightly more even gender pool.

The overall gender breakdown is 37 percent women and 62 percent men. This disparity widens when looking only at Yahoo’s technology jobs, just 15 percent of which are held by women.

Seventy percent of Google employees are male. But Senior Vice President of People Operations at Google Laszlo Bock detailed the company’s plans for improvement in its report, admitting that Google is “miles from where we want to be” and that being open about the current issue is imperative to its resolution.

The ethnicity breakdown of Yahoo did not reveal a diverse workforce. Fifty percent of the employees are white, and nearly 40 percent of the remaining half are Asian.

Reses ended the report stating that the goal of Yahoo is “to create a workplace culture that attracts and retains all talents regardless of background, and to help our people grow to their full potential.”
