Chuck Palahniuk is bringing the characters from his cult classic novel Fight Club back for another go around, this time in a comic series.
Fight Club, which is the story of an unnamed narrator and his vicious id Tyler Durden has become a cult classic, due not only to the Palahniuk’s novel but also because of its film adaptation, which starred both Edward Norton and Brad Pitt.
This new comic series, which will be produced by Dark Horse Comics, will be a 10 issue story about life for the narrator, who is now a middle-aged man and has a son with Marla Singer. While life appears stable for the narrator, he is proving to be as bad a father to his son Junior as his father was to him according to USA Today.
This idea of looking at fathers from a different perspective was just one of the themes Palahniuk was attempting to explore in Fight Club 2. Another main focus of the series is dealing with the potential sterility of middle-aged life. In an interview with USA Today, Palahniuk spoke about the idea, that by middle age, “you've made it to a certain extent. You're still not really happy but for different reasons. Also the idea that if you suppress that wild, creative part of you — that Tyler part of you — do you lose the best part of you? Sure, your life is more stable and safe, but is it a better life?"
The news of another venture into the Fight Club universe first became public after it was mentioned at Comic Con International last year, and was later confirmed on the author’s official site as reported by Comic Book Resources. Fight Club 2 should be available during Spring 2015.
