The Emmy nominees are going to be announced tomorrow morning by both Mindy Kalig and Carson Daly, and we are all on edge as we wait to find out who will take home the award in many of the categories, such as drama, mini series, and comedy. In the drama category, many of the potential nominees have been nominated before and they have put forth performances this year that have been very moving and deserving of the award.

The actors, actresses, and shows in the drama on television today have had an amazing run. For the most part, though, many popular characters on television have been lost, giving certain people less of a chance to be nominated this year. However, the performances by others who have gone through tragedies and triumphs have put a heart into their roles, giving them a shot at this year’s nominations.

Potentially, many of the past nominees will be recognized, so the predictions here will come from basic intuition from knowing the history of the nominations to having witnessed the acting talents from the actors and actresses in their roles.

Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series

One of the nominations that may happen could go to Josh Charles of The Good Wife. His character, Will, was killed off, making for dramatic and heartbreaking television in his final moments. A nomination for Charles would be a great nod.

Game of Thrones has made for shocking television with all of the deaths that have occurred, leaving no one safe. Some of the best performances came from Charles Dance, who played Tywin Lanister, but with his shocking actions toward the end of the season, Peter Dinklage would make for a deserving nominee.

Breaking Bad has had quite a run and one of the nominees we’d love to see is Dean Norris, whose dramatic final moments as Hank left us all in surprise. Another potential nominee from the show would be actor Aaron Paul, whose character, Jesse Pinkman, left after a stunning season finale. A nomination would be an honor for him after his departure from the show.

Other potential nominees include Jon Voight for Ray Donovan and Norman Reedus for The Walking Dead. While most of the regular drama nominees most likely will be included, there are many unsung heroes deserving of an Emmy nomination.

Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series

All of the possible supporting actress nominees have given incredible performances and we will most likely see some past nominees return this year. Anna Gunn won last year and with the intense action on the show, she could see yet another nod her role as Skyler White. Christina Hendricks for Mad Men and Christine Baranski for The Good Wife have been nominated in the past. With the intense, emotional roller coaster following The Good Wife’s shocking death, Baranski could be a shoe-in as her character faced the challenges that came afterwards.

Joanne Froggatt got a heavy storyline on Downtown Abbey with her character’s rape and the aftermath, so she’s a contender for the nomination, as well as Maggie Smith, who has been nominated previously.

True Detective, which is technically a mini series, was submitted for the drama category so we may even see Michelle Monaghan with a nod thrown her way for her role on the show. Another possible nomination could go to Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones, who has always put on a stand out performance.

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Drama Series

There are plenty of lead actors who have done well in the drama category and some familiar faces we will most likely see will be Bryan Cranston for Breaking Bad and Kevin Spacey for House of Cards. Now with the show True Detective in the running, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson may get a nod as well as they have always been very talented.

The Blacklist’s James Spader is also a possible candidate, having won awards for his past work, and with his imposing demeanor on The Blacklist, he has what it takes to earn a nod. Jon Hamm from Mad Men has a subtle presence in his performance on his show that makes him a possible candidate as well.

Outstanding Lead Actress in A Drama Series

Julianna Marguilies had plenty of acting talent to shine with in The Good Wife so a nomination loss for her this year would be undeserving, as she has put in an amazing performance. Robin Wright is also a possible nominee for House of Cards and Kerry Washington could get a nod for Scandal.

For Mad Men, Elisabeth Moss is also a contender, as she has been nominated in the past for her work, so she is likely to make a comeback. Claire Danes is also a possibility as she has already won an award for her work on Homeland, so we will most likely see a nod go to her. Another possible nod could go to Vera Farmiga for Bates Motel.

Personally, I would love to see more underrated nominees shine through, such as Nina Dobrev for her work on The Vampire Diaries and Keri Russell for The Americans. Mariska Hargitay has always been amazing on Law & Order: SVU and she has been nominated in the past, so we could see yet another.

There are many unsung heroes on television today that could be nominated, such as The Americans and Scandal. The likely nominations will go to Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, especially after their many dramatic deaths and twists and turns throughout the last season, and The Good Wife, which had plenty of material in the wake of the tragedy that occurred with Josh Charles’ character.

True Detective has become a popular show and with its submission into the category, it is likely they will get a nod as well. Mad Men and House of Cards are also likely to earn a nod, in addition to Downtown Abbey.
