A woman, who was caught burglarizing a home, was shot and killed by the 80-year-old owner despite her pleas that she was pregnant.
According to NBC, Tom Greer from Long Beach, California said he had no regrets after shooting the woman. Another man was also involved in the burglary alongside the woman, but he managed to escape and was not injured in the shooting.
The pair broke into Greer's home on Tuesday night, and took items from his safe. Greer was thrown to the ground, appearing harmless to the intruders.
“When I went in there, they tackled me. Both of them jumped up on top of me,” Greer said.
Although Greer suffered a shoulder injury in the struggle, he chose not to let the burglary continue. While the intruders continued to ransack the house, Greer had gotten his tgun. When Greer showed the weapon, the pair ran.
The man had run off, leaving the woman to face Greer. She was shot twice in the back by Greer, who ignored her pleas that she was pregnant.
“She says, ‘Don’t shoot me, I’m pregnant! I’m going to have a baby!’ And I shot her anyway,” Greer said.
It was not said if Greer would be charged. An autopsy on the woman was being done by the Los Angeles County coroner to confirm whether she was pregnant, reported Fox News.
No charges have yet been filed against Greer.
