The University of Alabama and The University of Southern California will begin the 2016 College Football season facing off against each other in the Cowboy Classic at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on September 3.
Barring the two teams playing in a bowl or College Football Playoff next season, it will be the first meeting of the two teams since 1978, according to CBSsports.
The Trojans were originally scheduled to play New Mexico at home in their 2016 opener, but that game has been moved to Sept. 19, 2020 according to the Los Angeles Times.
This matchup continues the trend these past few years of notable college teams squaring off on the opening weekend. Alabama will also play in the 2015 Cowboys Classic against the University of Wisconsin.
Ex Trojans head coach Lane Kiffin will face off against his old team as the offensive coordinator of Alabama.
Neutral fans will be hoping that over the next two years that the Trojans regain their place as a top tier team in the College Football ranks. Alabama has been at the top of the mountain in College Football over the past seven years.
