Dozens of fans who attended Keith Urban’s concert at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Mass. were treated for sicknesses related to alcohol after the Saturday night show.

The concert took place about 30 miles outside of Boston, where ambulances from five neighboring communities responded to treat 46 people and take 22 to hospitals.

According to The AP, 50 people were taken into protective custody in relation to the incident.

"Last evening's Keith Urban concert was not anticipated to present with the volume of issues handled," local officials said in a statement, Reuters reports.

Mansfield Board of Selectmen Chairman George Dentino told Boston Herald that local police and fire officials made a “Herculean effort” to get the issues resolved.

“This was our worst night that I know of this year,” said Dentino. “This one just exploded and exploded early. The country fans of yesterday aren’t the country fans of today, who are predominantly 17 to 28 and female. The primary reason for them going there is to party and secondary to that is to listen to the music.”

Urban posted the following message on his Twitter page, calling fans on the lawn “nutso.”

Urban will return to judge the next season of American Idol with Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr.
