A recently created app allows those living in Israel to get an alert whenever rockets are fired from Gaza.
Ari Sprung, co-developer of the app, originally intended for the app to help those in the south region, reported Reuters.
“We didn’t think we would need to help people in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, but we do,” Sprung said.
About 500,000 Israelis have downloaded the app on their phones.
More than 1,000 rockets have been fired from Gaza by Hamas militants, and many of them have been intercepted by the Iron Dome system.
The app is not only downloaded by Israeli citizens, but Americans as well, reported Florida Today.
Scott Seigel visited Israel last October. He downloaded the app to keep up to date with the rocket attacks.
“I’m Jewish, but any American should be interested in what’s going on,” said Scott Seigel, a Florida resident.
The app only offers locations for the alert, and no maps. Live radio updates are available, in Hebrew, during the attacks.
A message field on the app allows for people all over the world to send prayers and words of encouragement.
The app, called Red Alert: Israel, is available in the app store for free.
