Ariana Grande says that she has been distant from her father for the past year.

During an interview with Seventeen Magazine, the 21 year-old singer revealed that she has not been on good terms with her father for over a year and talked about how difficult it is.

“It took me so long to be okay with it. The thing that got me there was embracing the fact that that I am made up of half my dad, and a lot of my traits come from him," she shared. “So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn’t like that about myself.”

Grande admits that she still can’t help but love her father. “I had to accept that it’s okay not to get along with somebody and still love them.”

This is just one family ‘Problem’ that the “Break Free” singer has been going through lately. As we previously reported, Grande lost her grandfather to cancer last week. She was close to her grandfather and often posted pictures with him on Instagram.

Her brother, Frankie Grande, is currently competing on Big Brother and Ariana has been his biggest cheerleader since the start. Grande is also set to perform at the Video Music Awards on August 24, one day before the release of her new album, My Everything.
