It’s been almost two years since the shooting massacre in Aurora, Colorado which left 12 people dead and 70 others wounded. Now, a trial date for the main and only suspect in the case has been pushed back again.
The Los Angeles Times reported on Wednesday, that a judge ruled the trial again be delayed to allow enough time for a second-sanity evaluation of James Holmes.
The 26-year-old is accused of shooting dozens of victims inside a Century movie theater on July 20, 2012, during a midnight screening of the film The Dark Knight Rises.
The gunman, believed to be Holmes, set off tear gas grenades and shot into the viewing audience. He was arrested minutes later outside of the theater.
He has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to the charges against him.
A report on his psychiatric evaluation was due on August 15, but the mental health hospital requested an extension till October, according to KDVR.
This is the third time the trial has been pushed back and District Court Judge Carlos A. Samour said he had no choice but to delay the proceedings again.
The shooting was the deadliest in the state since the Columbine High School massacre in 1999.
