Billboard Magazine has created charts that ranked the best songs and albums of the week and year. These charts helps measure an artist success and the milestone that is attached to an artist is a attachment that helps solidify an artist status in the industry. Now, billboard is recording the top artist of the week.
On Tuesday, Billboard unleashed a brand new chart that will rank the artist themselves based off their performance across Billboard’s most prominent charts such as Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard 200.
Trey Songz tops the first ever tally for the chart due to his new album Trigga debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of over 100,000. His single “Na Na” is also performing well on the Billboard Hot 100 reaching a new peak of 21.
The Co- President of Billboard, John Amato, gave a statement on the magazine’s newest commodity. “Now, for the first time, Billboard will chart an artist's collective reach, utilizing data that informs such influential charts as the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard 200 and Social 50, among others. The Artist 100 chart is revolutionizing how artists are ranked in a way that is very relevant to music fans and pop culture enthusiasts,” he said.
