Angelina Jolie is revealing some of the most intimate parts of her relationship with fiancé Brad Pitt, with whom she shares six children. The actress, writer and director revealed they sent handwritten love letters to each other while they were on opposite parts of the world.

Jolie told Australia’s TV Week how they kept in touch while she directed Unbroken in Australia and he shot Fury in London.

She said they imagined “he was in the European theatre and I was in the Pacific theater” and “we wrote hand-written letters to each other that were very connecting for us, thinking of the people that were separated for months if not years at a time back then."

Jolie, 39, gushed “it was quite romantic in a way.”

They soon won’t have to worry about staying connected from a distance, as they recently announced they will co-star in the film By the Sea, which Jolie also wrote and will direct. This will mark the couple’s second film together, as they famously fell in love during the filming of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, while Pitt was still married to Jennifer Aniston.

Pitt and Jolie got engaged in 2012 but have since denied any plans for a wedding yet. They have been together since 2005.
