Cameron Crowe's upcoming untitled movie was set to be released at the end of this year, but Sony has opted to push the film back into 2015.
The film, which stars Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams and Emma Stone, was set for a Christmas 2014 release date, but will now be out May 29, 2015, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film was set to open against Hot Tub Time Machine 2, Unbroken, Paddington and Into The Woods, but will now battle lesser fare Insidious Chapter 3 and Monster Trucks.
Deadline reports execs at Columbia Pictures and Regency Enterprises thought the film might have a better chance in the May 29 slot, especially since no heavy hitter is set for that date, though they didn't word it that way.
"Once we saw the film, we knew that it would make a perfect summer release," Sony Pictures worldwide marketing and distributing chairman, Jeff Blake, said. "The movie is Cameron at his best."
The still-untitled romantic comedy stars Cooper as a military contractor returning to Hawaii where he once did well as part of the U.S. space program. There he runs into a past love, played by McAdams, and then falls for Stone's Air Force watchdog. Bill Murray, Alec Baldwin, Danny McBride and John Krasinski also star in the film.
