A Texas Tech cheerleader is getting blasted on the Internet by animal rights activists and just about anyone who thinks killing the beautiful animals in Africa is wrong. The 19-year-old has been posting photos of herself smiling with dead leopards, lions and other animals and has been defending her actions.

Kendall Jones has posted pictures of herself grinning from ear-to-ear with a dead rhino in one and a dead zebra in the other. In one, she is seen proudly holding a rifle over the body of a dead elephant.

According to KVUE, Jones has said she’s been interested in hunting since she was 9-years-old, since her dad also hunted animals in Africa. “As badly as I wanted to shoot something, I was just too small to hold the guns my dad had brought,” she wrote on Facebook.

At 13, she killed her first African anima, a white rhino.

Jones posted the pictures in early June and they are now getting the Internet’s attention. Each picture has hundreds of comments, criticizing Jones. There is even a Change.org petition with 33,400 signatures, begging any agency that can to stop her from killing more animals. Another petition asks that her Facebook pictures be taken down.

The New York Daily News notes that Jones sees herself as a conservationist, writing, “Hunters are the biggest conservationists there are. We want animal populations to grow and thrive!" Her Facebook page has also been posting thank-you messages to her supporters and a link to another page called Support Kendall.
