The Cleveland Cavaliers and overall No. 1 draft pick Andrew Wiggins have reached a deal. The deal will give Wiggins $5.5 million next season.
This figure is key because he has been mention in trade talks between the Cavs and the Minnesota Timberwolves regarding All-Star power forward Kevin Love. Love is due $15.7 million next season, and any trade involving him would have to send roughly and equal amount of salaries to both teams, reports USA Today .
However, a trade involving Wiggins cannot happen within the next 30 days because the NBA has a rule which states that newly signed draft picks cannot be dealt in the first month of their contract.
Earlier this month, Cavaliers head coach David Blatt stated that Wiggins is "not going anywhere."
The Chicago Bulls are in a similar situation as the Cavs. They have also been in the midst of trade talks with the Timberwolves about Love but have to put the discussions on hold because they signed two players (Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic) on Tuesday. If these players are to be included in a deal, if cannot get finalized until four weeks from now, according to SI.com .
