Delta Airlines announced on Monday that the carrier will begin to offer free entertainment options on flights within the United States.

For those on flights longer than an hour and a half, Delta will provide free entertainment, which will be available either through customers' own portable electronic devices or their seat-back video systems.

The entertainment will be free for all classes on domestic flights, while those flying internationally in BusinessElite, First Class and Economy Comfort will receive unrestricted access to entertainment options. Free content will also be available in economy on international Delta flights.

"Through the introduction of Delta Studio our customers have yet another reason to choose Delta and a different travel experience," senior vice president of marketing Tim Mapes said in a statement. "Delta continues to be driven by customer feedback which has consistently placed the desire to be entertained at the top of the list of ways to improve customers' time in the air."

Free entertainment options will include access to the carrier's satellite TV channels, movies, music and game options.

While most options available to passengers will be free, some will still come with a price tag. Premium content, such as newer films, access to HBO and Showtime, will still need to be purchased for those in economy on domestic flights.
