The second trailer for Marvel and Walt Disney Animation Studio’s upcoming action movie collaboration – Big Hero 6 – has just premiered online, giving more information about the film’s plot while also entertaining with slapstick comedy.
The trailer features half-Japanese, half-Caucasian protagonist Hiro Hamada trying to report the crime he just witnessed to a police officer, who finds Hiro’s tale – which includes a villain wearing a kabuki mask and an overwhelming force of “micro-bots” controlled telepathically by, as Deadline notes, a neural implant of some kind – understandably hard to believe. Believing he is the only one to stop the masked villain, Hiro suits his pudgy nurse robot Baymax (Scott Adsit of 30 Rock) as a crime fighting force to protect his high tech hometown of San Fransokyo.
As noted by Variety , the film marks the first collaboration between Marvel and Disney in the animation medium, will be directed by Don Hall (Winnie the Pooh) and Chris Williams (Bolt) while being produced by Roy Conli (Tangled).
While the trailer features a few bits of the high-octane action we can expect from the film, it mainly showcased the film’s humor, mostly from the pudgy, clueless, but well-meaning Baymax, who politely uses the police officer’s tape to fix himself in an awkwardly drawn out, but hilarious gag.
Cinema Blend went into great detail describing the cast and characters. Hiro, played by Ryan Potter (pictured above), is a fourteen year 14-year-old genius who created Baymax and suits up next to his robotic partner to fight crime. T.J. Miller will play "Fred", a comic book fan who fights in a Kaiju costume, while Jaimie Chung will play "GoGo Tamago", a tough engineer who builds her own superhero gear, Genesis Rodriguez of Identity Thief will voice the upbeat "Honey Lemon", and New Girl’s Damon Wayans Jr. will voice Wasabi, a by-the-book hero with laser shooting gauntlets.
The film will also star Alan Tudyk, Maya Rudolph, and James Cromwell, as noted by Variety .
As we reported when the first trailer came out, the film is slated to be released on November 7.
