It has been seven years since the characters portrayed by Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey fell in love, but according to Disney, that is not too long to make an Enchanted sequel.
Disney shared with Deadline that they have hired writers for an Enchanted sequel. J. David Stem and David N. Weiss, the writers behind The Smurfs and , will be penning the film. Anne Fletcher, director of 27 Dresses and The Proposal, will be behind the camera. Original producers Barry Sonnenfeld and Barry Josephson are staying on board for the sequel to the live-action fairy tale flick. According to Hypable, the original Enchanted made $340 million worldwide in the box office.
It is unknown which actors and characters will be returning for the sequel. Actress Idina Menzel has made it big for herself with Disney since she appeared as Elsa in Frozen. Looking at Amy Adams’ IMDB page, it will be a wonder if she has any time in her busy schedule for the sequel.
At the end of the original, Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey were happily in love in New York while James Marsden and Idina Menzel were getting married in the cartoon world of Andalasia. It will be a surprise to see which couple’s happily-ever-after the sequel will explore. Hopefully, adorable chipmunk Pip will make an appearance, while the singing roaches will stay in the first film.
