Tim Theall from Georgia had his dog shot in front of him by police. When he tried to help his dog, he was threatened with jail time.
When Theall let his dog, Doctor, out of the house, the dog ran to the front yard. Things took a horrifying turn when Theall heard gun shots as he went to recover the dog, reported NBC News Atlanta.
“And before I turned the corner of the house, I heard two shots,” Theall said.
Immediately after the shots were fired, Theall heard the officer swear. When Theall attempted to do what any owner would, he was blocked by the police.
“The dog was still alive, clearly bleeding like crazy and the police officer blocked my exit” he said.
According to The Daily Caller, the police officer was apparently caught off guard by Doctor while investigating a false house alarm call. The officer also prevented Theall and his wife from helping the dog for over an hour.
Theall said the officer did not even attempt to help the dog in anyway. To Theall's relief, the dog survived the shot. The dog had been shot in the throat and required oral surgery.
The incident is under investigation.
