Drew Barrymore’s half-sister, Jessica Barrymore, 47, was found dead near San Diego, Calif. on Tuesday.
Barrymore was found unresponsive in a car in National City, Calif. around 6am on Tuesday.
When a woman discovered Barrymore’s car was blockading her in her driveway when she was trying to leave for work, she approached the car and saw Barrymore reclined with a SoBe energy drink in between her legs and pills sitting on the passenger seat.
Marta Lopez said she told Barrymore, "You need help, you need help,” but she did not wake up, 10 News reports.
Another onlooker said “Her car was parked right here last night around midnight. I thought she was sleeping or waiting for someone."
Jessica and the actress, 39, share the same father, John Drew Barrymore, but different mothers. Thursday would have been Jessica’s 48th birthday, Us Weekly reports.
The Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed they have Jessica’s body but an autopsy isn’t planned yet.
In April, Drew Barrymore welcomed her second daughter with husband Will Kopelman.
