Duran Duran is hungry like a wolf for unpaid revenue from its fan club, which is based in Glenview, Illinois. The group, behind ‘80s pop classics like “Hungry Like The Wolf” and “Rio,” is suing the company that runs the club for $40,000 in damages.
The lawsuit was filed Monday in Cook County Circuit Court, according to The Chicago Sun-Times. The group claims that they signed a deal with Worldwide Fan Clubs, Inc. in 2010, giving the company the rights to manage an official fan club.
The deal gave Duran Duran 75 percent of the profits from the club and other merchandise, giving Worldwide Fan Clubs a 25 percent cut. In addition, the company was supposed to keep up-to-date and organized financial records, which it failed to do, according to the lawsuit.
Duran Duran is still hoping to make some more money from fans, this time with a new record. According to NME, they are working on their first album since 2010’s All You Need Is Now, which should feature John Frusciante of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, although there are no plans to tour with him.
The album will be produced by Mark Ronson and their 14th studio album overall.
