Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright has settled on an adaptation of the new young adult novel Grasshopper Jungle to be his next project.
He will direct the film based off Beautiful Girls' Scott Rosenberg's script, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Rosenberg will produce alongside Nira Park and Matt Tolmach.
Grasshopper Jungle, written by Andrew Smith Dutton and released in February, is about an Ealing, Iowan teenager and his friends. They find themselves in trouble after they accidentally release genetically altered praying mantises, which happen to be six-feet tall.
Earlier in the week, Wright was reportedly looking into stepping into the director's chair for Baby Driver.
He wrote the script and brought it to Working Title Films. The film, which is said to be a mix of crime, music, action and sound, will be produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Park.
It hasn't been announced, which film he will be working on first, though they currently appear to be at roughly the same development stage.
Wright, who pulled out of Marvel's Ant-Man earlier in the year, has also been connected to possibly helming Disney's remake of The Night Stalker. Johnny Depp is currently attached to star in the film.
