It seems like new parents can’t quite “Let It Go!” Frozen’s Elsa is currently one of the top 100 baby names for the first half of 2014.
According to Baby Centre, there are plenty of typical names in the top 100. However, the media and Hollywood trends influence many of the entries.
"It remains to be seen how the ranking will change over the next few months as celebrities have their babies and we see more popular cultural influences," said Sarah Barrett, Managing editor for the site. Certain names climb to the number one spot as new films and shows become increasingly popular, like many of the characters on HBO’s Game of Thrones.
It seems that young children aren’t the only ones impacted by the smash hit Disney animated film. Elsa is currently in the number 88 spot on the top 100, though the name could very well work its way further down the list during the second half of the year.
"Elsa is the ice queen but she sees the error of her ways and is shown to be a sensitive, but strong and confident character,” said Barrett. The “strong and confident character” proves to her family and audience alike that true love comes in many forms—including within family relationships. This idea has propelled Elsa into baby name history, as new parents are inspired by the ideals that Frozen imparts to its viewers.
The two top baby names for the last six months are Emily and Oliver.
Meanwhile, Frozen continues to snowball into a cultural phenomenon, as Elsa has been cast in ABC’s Once Upon a Time.
