The Fault In Our Stars made fans cry in the theaters and this news certainly isn’t going to dry any tears. The bench in Amsterdam that Hazel and Augustus share a kiss while sitting on has gone missing.

The green bench was just like any other ones on the Leidsegracht and has actually been missing for a month, notes The Associated Press. There are no suspects at the moment, but the city might have removed the bench itself for repairs.

“It's a bit embarrassing, because we do keep good track of them, but it's gone all right,” Stephan van der Hoek, a spokesman for the city, told the AP.

Van der Hoek said that the bench should be replaced in a few weeks. He also noted that fans of the John Green adaptation have already arrived in the city, with The Fault In Our Stars location maps in hand.

Fans of the film have also been going to the Anne Frank House museum, since scenes do take place there. However, the museum was reconstructed on a stage, so the movie was not shot there.

As CinemaBlend points out, Amsterdam was also important for Green, as he wrote the best-selling novel while living there. Scenes in the final film were shot there as well.
