The first image of Don Cheadle as musician Miles Davis from the upcoming biopic film, Miles Ahead, has surfaced online.

According to Comingsoon.net, the film also stars Ewan McGregor, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Emayatzy Corinealdi. The film, which also marks Don Cheadle’s directorial debut, tells the story of a few Davis working with with a Rolling Stone writer (played by Ewan McGregor) to steal back his music. The film also focuses on Davis’s “silent period” – the five-year span where Davis stopped making music – and his troubled marriage to Frances Taylor Davis. All of these narrative strands eventually led to In a Silent Way, Davis's 1969 jazz-rock album.

As noted by Cinema Blend, Cheadle was sharing his schedule for the film with his work on Avengers: Age of Ultron, where Cheadle will reprise his role as Colonel James "War Machine/Iron Patriot" Rhodes. In addition to his directorial duties, Cheadle is also contributing to the screenplay, which he co-wrote with Steven Baigelman (Feeling Minnesota), Stephen J. Rivele, and Christopher Wilkinson (Ali).

Miles Ahead has been a passion project of Cheadle's for nearly a decade.

The film is now shooting in Cincinnati, with no release date has yet been set.
