Florida executive Eddie Wayne Davis on Thursday, almost 20 years after he was sentenced to for the rape and murder of a young girl.

The 45-year-old admitted that he raped and murdered 11-year-old Kimberly Waters after abducting her from her house, Reuters reports. He strangled and left her body in a dumpster after raping her.

Though he confessed a total of three times for the murder, his lawyers argued that though he was 25 he was not an adult mentally, which did not convince the jury and he was sentenced in 1995 to die.

Florida Department of Corrections officials said that Davis was quiet ahead of the execution and didn't give a final statement.

According to The Washington Post, he tried to hold up his execution, but was unable to convince the state's highest court that due to having porphyria, the lethal injection of three drugs would hurt.

Davis is the seventh person Florida has executed in 2014, tying with Texas. In the United States, 24 people have been executed so far this year, despite a couple botched executions.
