Four people were injured during a scary incident where a roller coaster car derailed at a Six Flags Magic Mountain amusement park in California on Monday evening.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Michael Pittman, a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatch supervisor said that the ride was suspended in the air in a “precarious position.”
Pittman also said that the four injuries appeared to be minor, however, two people were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
The Associated Press noted that the Ninja roller coaster hit a tree branch around 5:30 p.m. local time, which caused the front car to dislodge and the ride to stop.
The 22 passengers were then left hanging in the air, several feet above ground, until nightfall.
One of the injured riders recounted his frightening experience for the local media.
"We were going across one turn and all of a sudden a loud noise happened," Jeremy Ead said. "I ducked down just in time. A hard branch hit me in the head. I was there bleeding from my head.”
By 8:30 p.m., everyone was safely evacuated from the ride.
The coaster will remain shut down while the accident is being investigated.
