Iggy is doing it biggy as Iggy Azalea and Charlie XCX’s “Fancy” racks up an impressive seven weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100. This time she joins Rihanna, Kesha, Adele, Carly Rae Jepsen and Lorde for a new record.
Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” ties for fifth place for the longest stay at number one for a female artist this decade, according to Billboard. "We Found Love" by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris has the most with 10 weeks. Lorde, Kesha and Carly Rae Jepson is second with their nine week runs of “Royals,” “Tik Tok” and “Call Me Maybe”, respectively. “Fancy” is tied with Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” in fifth place.
For almost every week of the seven week frame, Iggy has broken some kind of record. Her first week she became the first female artist to have their first two charting singles hold the No.1 and No.2 spot on the chart, then after five weeks she tied Ashanti with the most weeks by a female artist to claim the top two spots and last week, “Fancy” became the longest running #1 single by a female rapper.
The Idolator reports that “Rude” by MAGIC! holds on at No. 2 followed by “Problem” by Ariana Grande, Niko and Wanz “Am I Wrong” and Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me.” Also, Maroon 5’s “Maps” enter the top 10 at number nine.
