Just one day after arguably one of the most highly-anticipated trailer of the year, Fifty Shades of Grey made its debut on the Today show, the show aired a behind-the-scenes interview Natalie Morales conducted with the films stars, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson.
Author of the Fifty Shades trilogy, E.L. James, also told Morales that she knew she wanted to cast unknown actors in the film from the start.
Dornan, cast as Christian Grey, was asked if he can relate to the risqué character, to which he replied, “I have to be careful how I answer this.
“There’s always something about any character that you play that you’re drawn to, because you feel like it relates to something within you,” he said. He even referred to the film’s sex scenes as “sexual acrobatics.”
As for Johnson, who plays the naïve college student Anastasia Steele, she said, “I can see myself in [Anastasia], I can see a lot of her in me.”
The trailer was released on Thursday, showing the chemistry Dornan and Johnson have. Fans were also pleasantly surprised to hear Beyonce is involved in the film, lending her vocals to the trailer.
