After the cancellation of her show Sam & Cat Jennette McCurdy has something to say to all of her fans who wish to view her as a role model.

In a post on Reddit Thursday McCurdy firmly proclaimed, "I am not a role model. I don't claim to be, I don't try to be, and I don't want to be."

McCurdy went on to say that she felt that there was a time where she aspired to the pedestal of being a role model but has matured and now wishes to be more honest. McCurdy said that she believed that aspiring to be a role model would be setting herself up to fail. She now wishes to own the fact that she isn't perfect saying, "To remove myself from the role model battle, the falsified standard set by the bubblegum industry, is - in my eyes - to remove myself from the counterintuitive battle of attempting to be something perfect while being glaringly aware of my imperfections."

In her post, she urged parents and fans to look up to the people they knew and consider them as role models rather than using celebrities, whom she compared to strangers, as role models.

"What defines a person as a role model is the way they live their life. And no offense, but none of you know how I live my life," McCurdy said.

It's been more than a week since the show Sam & Cat, which stars McCurdy, was cancelled after one season on Nickelodeon. There had been murmurings that the cancellation was due in part to a feud between McCurdy and her co-star Ariana Grande as well as the bad publicity surrounding racy photos of McCurdy that were leaked in March.
